There are a great many ways to boost your Google ranking, from creating a Google My Business page, building website citations from directories such as Yell through to effective blogging on both your own site and relevant third-party sites with a high Domain Authority ranking.
Backlinks have for a long time been regarded as one of the essential ways to rank high on Google, and Google itself gives you many places to link back to your site, including Youtube, GMB, Blogger and Google Sites.
As well as the above, a powerful tool is to utilise Google Maps. With a customised Google Map you can present your business with content-rich information to be indexed by Google, complete with links to relevant pages.
The ‘Google Local Pack’
An important addition to Google recently has been the inclusion of the ‘Google Local Pack’. This is a map shown at the top of search results with three highlighted businesses. For local businesses, it is important to target this as customers will see your company before they see standard search results.
There are many suggested ways to get your business into the Local Pack, including using the techniques I have listed previously. One of these techniques, using customised Google Maps is highlighted below.
